There are only three chapters. The first chapter "General Survey" introduces the basic ideas and provides two very important examples: Brownian motion and shot noise in vacuum tube diodes. Langevin's approach is introduced along with several important results that are used throughout the remainder of the text.

Chapter two is in many ways the core of the book and provides a number of important results and examples including the Wiener-Khinchine theorem and the Fokker-Planck equation. We are also provided with some rumination over the transition between reversible and irreversible behavior in physical systems. The third chapter is devoted to noise in electric circuits, and the book winds up with several appendices to which have been relegated bits of mathematical background and a few proofs of some of the results that appear in the book. This book is quite good and definitely worth taking a look at for the student new to this area.

I am very pleased to see this book from the 60s reprinted, many years ago it gave me my first notions about fluctuations in physics which have been quite relevant in all of my physics career. Particularly valuable is its continuous reference to both the time and the frequency domain for all fenomena. Excellent range of examples in all fields of application.
