Released momentarily to swallow the scraps her kidnapper had brought her, she found herself begging him for a hug. It is one of the most heartbreaking details in the catalogue of horrors Stephanie endured in after being snatched at knifepoint by Michael Sams , a murderer posing as a house buyer. It was also part of her remarkable plan to make herself human to him, to keep herself alive. I held my arms out towards him. None of this was your fault.

Get back to your normal life as soon as possible. One-legged Sams, now 76, was handed four life sentences in for her kidnap, and for the kidnap and murder six months earlier of year-old Julie Dart from Leeds. He remains behind bars in Whitemoor prison, Cambridgeshire. She moved to the Isle of Wight and even changed her name to escape herself.

She later changed it back for another stab at embracing life as Stephanie. Yet even her health refused to give her a fair chance. She died only 11 days after her cancer diagnosis. She lived in fear that one day Sams would be released on parole. She was 25 when Sams tricked her into his clutches.

In her autobiography Beyond Fear: He blindfolded her, shoved material in her mouth and marched her to his car, then made her speak into a tape recorder, to plead to Shipways estate agents for a ransom.

    Editorial Reviews

I love books that keep me thinking and trying to outrun the plot and get to the end just to know how it ends. It was a good race for me and enjoyable. This was an okay book the story was different and very unique I liked the story but there were more than a few mistakes which I caught. Where you said Stephanie I think you ment Agnes.

There were also quite a few more issues with grammar. I loved the story though! The Abduction of Stephanie is classic Nick Salupo. Intrigue, sex and a great plot. Suspenseful and unbelievable ending. I highly recommend it. I absolutely loved this book it was everything I hoped it would be. It took me on a journey into the deeper darker psyche of the characters. Hazed and Chained is a gritty dark thriller ride of suspense, excitement and nerves. I thought it was fabulously written and really drew me into its world.

While reading I generally link music to the story I'm reading which enhances the experience ,however with this book I linked movies and the emotions certain movies had provoked when I would watch them. If you were a lover of these then you will love Hazed and Chained, in my opinion this book could definitely be made into a big screen adaptation.

It has edge of your seat drama and suspense and while leading you down one route will perform a total and carry you off in another direction. With an ending that will blow you away. I love a book that makes me take to the story so much I begin to form questions in my head while reading and boy oh boy did this do it for me, a total mind screw over and I loved it. Stephanie is the all American girl and head cheerleader , dating the Football star and with her wolf pack of bitches that like to look down their noses at others. Lists with This Book.

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Dec 06, Michelle rated it really liked it. This book was totally out of my preferred genre, and by an author I have never read before. I had no idea what to expect. I truly enjoyed this book. The writing style drew me into the story and I felt as if I were there with Stephanie through it all. There were a lot of twists in this story from the surprise visitor in Stephanie's prison to the ending.

Never saw that coming. I am happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and read this book!! Apr 06, Spunky N Sassy rated it it was amazing Shelves: Certainly must credit the author for making the horror feel real. After wading through all that negative crap, the story ends with a Hitchcock type ending. The last two words completely transforms the entire narrative that passed before. Stunned, the reade SNS Rating: Stunned, the reader will sit in silence rethinking the entire book. It is definitely not right but in a wow kind of way. You will literally have a what in the heck is wrong with these people.

Stephanie Slater, estate agent kidnapped in , dies aged 50 | UK news | The Guardian

It is very well written and definitely leaves nothing to the imagination. When you get to the end watch out, you will definitely be greatly surprised. I was given an ARC for my honest review. I thoroughly believed the characters and it was almost like reading a biography this situation could so easily happen. I felt sorry for Stephanie but not at the same time as well as understanding the kidnapper and his reasons for doing what he did but does that make it right?

I cried for all the characters in this story by the end. I cannot wait to read more from this author
