The Joe Karbo content is good and that deserves 4. My slight issue is the Richard G Nixon version of the book. Basically he's taken Joe's original book and added another pages of his own. Basically he's tried to make Joe's book better with his own work. Personally I don't think he's done that. What he has done though, is to make the original book much bigger. Believe me when I say this, it's a massive book. And that seems to be the problem for me. It seems rather over bloated. Nixon gets you to do many exercises in the back of the book. On the goal setting exercise I actually got quite confused.
To me it didn't really explain the concept very well. A few posters said the original version was much better. I found the original 73 version online and gave it read well I've bought this book so its ok: I must admit i found the version much better. It's pages, much more to the point and in my mind much easier to follow. My advice would be to get the original over this version. The book is split up into two sections. The first section gets you to set concrete goals and meditate on characteristics you want to change.
The new, subtle ways the rich signal their wealth
Every day you have to read your goals aloud and you have to visualise them. You do this twice a day. You also have to meditate on a key word confidence etc once a day. The idea is to get you to start rewiring your brain into more positive thoughts. I've been doing it for a bit now and I like it, it certainly helps me get up in the morning when I think of all these cool goals that I now want to achieve. Book 2 is about setting up a direct mail company. He talks about how to find ideas that was good , how to set it up, how to write copy and how to advertise. Some of this info is now dated but the principles are there.
Just replace direct mail with online store. I'm going to try it when I'm done with my current projects. It may work, it may not! Overall an enjoyable read, but just get the version over this version would be my advice. I first read this book in the 's, not to become rich, but to enable me to think more positively. It really does work! I was sceptical at first, but found when I followed the instructions in the book I changed my way of thinking and it seemed to open doors for me.
When my adult daughter was going through some difficult times I passed the book on to her, and again the results were astounding. I bought the book again in ,never having got my original copy back from my daughter! Again, in many ways it has helped me. I would imagine if you are a person who wants to really get ahead, this would be a great book, much better than a lot of self help books I've read. I believe Positive attracts Positive, and this book shows you how to concentrate your mind on your goals. I didn't actually want it for that, not being very materialistic, but it certainly helped me to obtain the things in life that were important to me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to putting the advice it extols into practice. Basically the book can be split into two halves. The first half puts forward that you can achieve great things if you first define succinctly what you want then go through a daily ritual of reciting your affirmations a la The Secret and others.
The second half of the book puts forward that one of the ways you can get rich is by selling via Direct Marketing efforts. There is a LOT of detail in this section. It was a little dated but nonetheless it was extremely interesting and the principles could still be applied in the internet age. I found some overlaps between this section of the book and The 4 Hour Work Week a book I highly recommend.
I would recommend this title to anyone interested in self-help and small business. One person found this helpful. I have reviewed this book before and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This is a man who had suffered financial failure and bounced back to being a millionaire in the earl 's.
He gives you a system which if you follow it on a daily basis will yield massive results. I know, as in I was just about surviving with a wife and three young children to support. I never looked back. Buy this book if you are serious about getting ahead and prepared to make some disciplined consistent effort. The original and the best success book ever written. It is simple and if you just do what Joe Karbo tells you to do it it works. It enabled me to buy a Rolls Corniche for cash within 9 months of applying his system back in the the s and to create a very successful and profitable business, which I sold four years ago.

I owned this book, then lost it a few years ago. I love Joe Karbo. He has a wonderful way of putting things over. Thanks to Joe, I did what it said in the book and it worked! I have prospered ever since. I have bought the book to replace the lost one, so that my grandchildren can benefit from this incredible man's advice.
Many thanks for this wonderful little book in excellent condition arriving in quick time and looking forward to finding out all about this famous American businessman. I would recommend this book to a friend and anyone else who wishes to take another look at the way they are living their lives today and how their lives and the way they live could make positive changes for their future. Write a customer review. Read reviews that mention lazy man joe karbo many copies away way to riches years ago mail order great deal changed my life read this book ever read book years books i have ever bought this book book is just great great book copy self success ideas apply. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. I thought this was going to be close to original book by Joe Karbo, simple and easy to read and not time consuming. This version is no longer for the lazy man, that's for sure. It's an encyclopedia and summer course vs the original that was a 30 minute read to get same or better results.
The author who redid the book seems to have either missed the point, or just found a way to capitalize on Karbos amazing work. I read this book when it came out.
A how-to guide from the ultra-rich: What to tell your kids about money - The Washington Post
The ad was compelling, and for the most part lived up to the hype. The "mail order business" information may be a bit outdated now, but the advice on positive thinking is as valid as ever. You need to get into the habit of doing as Joe says, but if you do , you will find it beneficial. I bought this book in Within a month I had started my own highly successful mail order company, which I have just sold 33 years later, having had a lot of fun. A big step up from the 2CV I had been driving up to that time.
I cannot recommend this book too highly. I have given away many copies of this book over the years to would-be entrepreneurs. Get the origional copy as the information contained in the Nixon rewrite is of no benefit and in fact just confuses. The system is simple, but you must apply it diligently.
As Charles Atlas said in his bodybuilding course. I bought this book years ago,, and regard it , as having some of the best information on self improvement and money making on the planet. I brought this book years ago when it was first published through a magazine advertisement. Since then, I've moved several times and my copy of the book has gone missing. I have been looking for this book at a reasonable price for years.
While some of the Mail Order information is now outdated, the Affirmations and Self Talk changed my life and my ways of thinking.

This book is one of a kind. Everyone needs to read it. Maybe a bit out dated. Or I'm just weak willed and can't follow the exercises. One person found this helpful. Great 1st half of book, 2nd part is a how-to for a specific business. Since the book is so old I didnt even read 2nd part but the 1st half was well worth it. I read this 45 years ago and it improved my life in many ways. I loaned it to someone who moved away and wanted another copy. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful.
