I really like this book, and I saw the Arps present the essence of it at a live seminar they gave. Many couples surround their whole existence with the kids, and then when the kids are gone they are not connected to each other like the good old days. This book provides a way to start dating and having fun again while you grow together. You do not fight on the dates, you just follow their lead and address things you may not have talked about for a very long time.
It may sound mechanical, but we have seen firsthand how fun this can be.
10 Great Dates for Empty Nesters
It's refreshing to enjoy each other, talk about your second half of marriage and what is important to you as individuals and as a couple at this stage. In the last chapter you decide whether or not both of you want to buy and live in an RV for the rest of your lives. Love the book--they do a great job making dating and intimacy easy at any stage of life. Probably useful for some couples who have not done a thorough job in communicating with their spouse.
However, after 33 years of marriage, when we finally are reaching the empty nest stage, we find that these areas of communication have already been "solved". We are however, enjoying the refocusing on relationship, fun, and intimacy that is promoted.
One person found this helpful. This book covers a lot of ground in a light-hearted way. I would recommend it to couples not only entering the empty nest, but those who have been empty nesters for a while. It freshened our outlook and got us moving on doing more together with better understanding of each other. The book gives information and then also challenges the readers to apply the information in the form of dates.

How fun is that! One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I purchased this book on Kindle which was not a very good idea. It was hard to navigate from chapter to date ideas in the back. Also, the version I received on my Kindle Fire was double.
Each chapter was repeated in total.
I would recommend purchasing this book in paperback so you can write in it. Needed this for myself as well as other families. Excellent book and speedy delivery, too.
